Effective September 15, 2026.
These Terms of Use are the rules for using The Rennie Source. By using the site, creating an account, or submitting content, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Questions go through our Contact page. How we handle personal information is in the Privacy Policy.
The Site
The Rennie Source is a worker-maintained record of renaissance faire working conditions. It includes a faire directory, calendar, jobs board, resources, and related tools. Some areas are public. Faires, the calendar, and jobs may require a signed-in, verified worker account.
We may change, limit, or stop parts of the site at any time. We do not promise that the site will always be available, complete, or free of errors.
Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the email, password, and any two-factor codes you use, and for activity on the account.
Give information that is true enough for us to run the account. Do not impersonate someone else, create an account for a child under 13, or share a sign-in. We may refuse, suspend, or close an account when these terms or the needs of the project require it.
Worker Verification
Some features are limited to people who work the circuit. Verification is reviewed by moderators. Evidence stays private, as described in the Privacy Policy and the Verification Policy.
Verification is not a background check, employment screen, or endorsement of you or of any faire. We can change or revoke verification status.
Directory Information
The directory aims to be source-aware and dated. Facts and worker experience are meant to stay separate. Still, information can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or disputed.
Use the directory as a research aid, not as a substitute for your own judgment. Confirm applications, costs, camping, accessibility, and safety with the faire or organization before you commit. We are not the faire, the employer, or a party to any booking, contract, or season you take.
Your Submissions
You can send corrections, contributions, reviews, job posts, photos, contact messages, and other material. You keep whatever rights you already have in what you submit. You also give The Rennie Source a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, moderate, display, and distribute that material as needed to run and improve the site.
You are responsible for what you submit. You confirm that you have the right to submit it, that it is not unlawful, and that it does not invade someone else's privacy. Do not post legal names, home addresses, personal phone numbers, personal emails, exact campsites, or current travel locations unless that information is meant to be public and you have the right to share it.
Reviews are your opinions. Contributions should follow the Contribution Guidelines. Moderators decide what is published. Publication is not an endorsement. We can refuse, edit the presentation of, or remove submissions.
Jobs
The jobs board is a listing venue. The Rennie Source is not an employer, recruiter, staffing agency, or party to any hire. We do not guarantee that a listing is accurate, current, lawful, or real, or that applying will lead to work.
People who post jobs are responsible for their listings, photos, and the contact method they provide. People who use the board are responsible for checking the work, the payer, and any offer before they take it. Moderators may review posts and can reject or take them down. That review is not a promise that a job is safe or legitimate.
Acceptable Use
Do not use the site to:
- Break the law, or help someone else break it.
- Harass, threaten, or dox people who work faires or who use this site.
- Post spam, scams, fake reviews, or listings you do not have the right to post.
- Interfere with the site, probe it without permission, or bypass access limits.
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-copy accounts, listings, or directory data.
- Misrepresent your affiliation with a faire, booth, act, or organization.
Our Content
The site design, software, and the way we compile and present the directory belong to The Rennie Source or its licensors. You may use the public pages for personal, non-commercial research. You may not copy the site as a dataset, resell it, or present it as your own product without permission.
Marks, faire names, and materials that belong to faires or other organizations remain theirs. Mention on this site is not a partnership or endorsement.
Copyright Complaints
If you believe material on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice through Contact. Include the work, where it appears on the site, your contact details, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized. We may remove material and, for repeat problems, close accounts.
We have not published a separate designated DMCA agent on this page. Use Contact until that changes.
Moderation And Termination
We can remove content, limit features, or close an account if we believe these terms, the law, or the safety of the project require it. We can do that with or without notice. Closing an account does not automatically erase material already published in the directory.
Other people's posts, reviews, and listings are theirs. We are a host and moderator of that material, not its original speaker, except for content we write ourselves.
No Warranty
The site and all information on it are provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Rely on the directory, reviews, and jobs at your own risk.
Limitation Of Liability
To the extent the law allows, The Rennie Source and the people who operate it are not liable for lost work, lost profits, personal injury, or other damages that come from using the site, relying on its information, or dealing with a faire, employer, or other user. Some places do not allow certain limits. In those places, the limit is the maximum the law permits.
Your Responsibility
If a claim against us comes from your use of the site or from content you submitted, you will cover the reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
Changes
If these terms change, we will post the update here and change the effective date. Keep using the site after an update only if you accept the revised terms.
